i've created a monster

This weekend, I accomplished something I've been trying to do for a long time. I turned one of my best friends onto the internet for the first time. Yes folks, that's correct; this person did not own his own computer and has spent little time online.

Go ahead, pick your jaw up off the floor.

My friend is a great guy. He works hard, works long hours, and has been (quite successfully) managing his own business since long before being in business required being online. And sometimes, when something's not necessary, you just don't do it for whatever reason. In theory, not much different from my unwillingness to use the garlic press my wife purchased. Back in my day, we crushed and chopped garlic by hand, by God, and we liked it that way!

Obviously, I'm a geek, I'm a huge geek. So, it's a bit surprising that I'd be such great friends with a guy that has no clue what I'm talking about - but then again, that's good too. When we talk about our days at work, it gets boiled down to that human element, completely putting technology to the side. It's a great dynamic. But, I digress...More...

Hey there!

So I've been gone for a while, and I've been using my domain here as a testing / staging area for a little software project for my father-in-law (www.tkapropertiesllc.com). But, now I'm back.

What's with the long absence you ask? Well, work, life, work...you know how it goes. But, lately I've been spending a lot of time writing a lot of code using WCF and Silverlight, and I've wanted someplace to post about it. In a world of Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, and multiple hosted blogsites, there are a lot of options. Since I already own by domain, I figured it was time to embrace a really great .NET blog engine, and have settled on BlogEngine.NET.

Over the next few days, you'll probably see a flurry of posts from me as I get a lot off my mind and onto the site. I'm going to try to post a lot, going to try to get noticed, but you never know (hey, not everyone can be Scott Hanselman!).

It feels good to be back.

And to my mom, who's reading this, the title of this post is a code / geek thing. There'll be a lot of that stuff, so.... sorry.

Jason
